Work-life balance in the Indian IT sector is a complex and often challenging issue and has been a topic of concern for quite some time. I thought it is the time I put my perspectives about this too.
As an influential businesswoman in India, I have closely observed the struggles faced by employees in this industry. Many employees report working long hours, which can lead to stress and burnout.
Factors Contributing to Imbalance
I have done my own analysis as to which factors are contributing to such an imbalance:
- Long Working Hours: Many IT professionals are required to work beyond regular hours to meet project deadlines.
- Over-emphasis on Presence: The focus is often on the number of hours worked rather than actual output.
- Commute Stress: In cities like Mumbai and Bangalore, infrastructure challenges add to daily stress.
- Pressure to Up-skill: The constant pressure to stay updated with latest technologies can create a sense of lagging behind.
Our Suggested Solution
We have found that focusing on employee achieving results rather than counting hours is very effective. We have also trained our managers to play a crucial role in promoting work-life balance by setting realistic expectations and supporting employee well-being.
Summarizing…
